Society for the Exploration and Preservation of Honduras

 

SEPH is non-profit organization, formed with the intention of locating and preserving historical sites in Honduras. It is the goal of SEPH to expand and promote ecotourism interest in Honduras, to aid in the growth and world-wide awareness of the valuable ecological and cultural heritage of the area through the documentation, preservation and promotion there of.


Articles
I. SEPH will work with Instituto Hondureno de Antropolgia e Historia (hereafter designated IHAH), to assure that all SEPH sponsored expeditions are accompanied by a representative of IHAH, trained in the field of site conservation and documentation. In the event an IHAH representative is not available to accompany a SEPH endorsed expedition, the expedition shall limit its work to site documentation.


II. Items of historical interest encountered during SEPH sponsored expeditions, whether retrieved IHAH, or documented in place, will become sole property of IHAH.


III. Any historically significant sites discovered during a SEPH sponsored expedition will be accurately recorded concurrent with current archeological standards and procedures, and such information shall be made available to IHAH.


IV. All SEPH sponsored expeditions, shall keep the exact coordinates of sites from the public at large, including directions to said sites, until such a time as IHAH shall deem the site ready for publication.


V. All relevant materials created by a SEPH sponsored expedition shall be made available to IHAH in a timely fashion. This is to include, but not limited to satellite images, aerial photographs, soil studies, geology reports, magnetometer surveys, photos, written reports, videotapes, and any other documentation.


VI. SEPH hereby grants the right to IHAH, or any IHAH designated authority, to use, publish, or republish any relevant material named in article V. for non-profit use.


VII. Presently all SEPH sponsored expeditions are privately funded, and as such all SEPH sponsored parties reserve all rights, benefits, and ownership of any documentation of materials, written or otherwise in order to recoup some or all of the costs associated with SEPH historical expeditions. Ownership of said material is implicit and supersedes any
and all other agreements, written or otherwise.


VIII. The founding members of SEPH shall maintain an internet web site, and post findings on that site. The site will also feature reports from all SEPH sponsored expeditions. The site will provide necessary information for parties interested in forming a SEPH sponsored expedition.


IX. SEPH will maintain open financial records on the web site.
